Research and Development Project – Le Relais Est

As part of my work-study program at Le Relais Est, I served as a Research and Development officer in the repair sector, collaborating with Manon Pouillot to implement reproducible repair solutions for specific types of garments.

We focused on particular high-volume items, such as Mise au green polos and Levi’s jeans, which we receive in larger quantities compared to other products.

The repair sector was subsidized by Refashion following a call for projects dedicated to large-scale garment repair. During the first year, our goal was to repair 5 tons of clothing and shoes—a target we not only met but far exceeded. This year, our target is now set at 10 tons.

In parallel, I developed a washing register, cataloging stain-removal solutions according to garment types and stains, as well as a repair register listing applied techniques, including upcycling methods.

In my role, I was also responsible for creating technical documents for repair department staff—seamstresses, the cobbler, and the person in charge of washing—to ensure clear and efficient knowledge transfer of procedures.

Beyond repair, I contributed to communication efforts, including promoting the sale of mismatched shoes. I designed an explanatory poster for this initiative, which was very well received by customers.

Finally, while I do not have direct access to digital project files, I possess a physical portfolio compiling all my work at Le Relais Est, which I would be happy to present during an interview.
